Obsession

What’s really important?

Does anyone remember in the 90’s the Calvin Klein brand Obsession, a fragrance that relied on seemingly lusty ads to sell its brand?  What is most interesting about the ad is the

fact that behind the ad there were two people in love, Kate Moss and Mario Sorrenti.  While we were all focused on this alluring marketing, the object of our ‘obsession’ wasn’t to create great campaigns, but rather to create beautiful images that would resonate with the audience.

Now you might be thinking – ok Jamie, that’s a leap; but hear me out.  So much of our time is spent focused on the parts of the story that aren’t important.  We ask the wrong questions, we aren’t direct enough, we beat around the bush, and we seek those things that are slightly outside the scope. “Life is short. Focus on what matters and let go of what doesn’t.” ~Unknown

Purpose is our why. Our actions are driven by it. Our passion is fueled by it. The way we live our lives is shaped by the way we work, how we relate to others, and how we live our personal lives. Every aspect of our life is influenced by it. Intentionality means living a life of purpose. We gain a sharper focus on our lives as a result.

  1. I do agree we have the tendency to waste time on the non-important things. But as we grow and have more life experiences, we then understand why those things are no longer important. We start to understand our purpose and the impact it has on our life. Sometimes it takes us “growing up”, (whether physically, emotionally, spiritually, or mentally) to find our purpose.
