have you ever felt like just throwing a good ole temper tantrum? like, screaming to the top of your lungs and maybe even allow some tears.
Let’s face it, we’ve all had those moments when we fantasize about giving our best impression of a toddler throwing a tantrum. You know, the whole kicking and screaming routine, complete with tears for dramatic effect. I mean, why should kids have all the fun, right? But alas, the adult world beckons, and here we are, keeping our inner temper tantrum artist on a tight leash.
How often do we hold in our emotions through different moments because we were taught to be “strong?” That IS certainly me today. I am mentally exhausted from all the throws that life so easily thinks dishes out. In the cacophony of life’s ceaseless demands, it’s all too common to find ourselves yearning for a moment of reprieve, a tranquil space where we can unabashedly surrender to our fatigue. Have you ever found yourself on the verge of shouting into the abyss, releasing the weight of the world with every decibel? Perhaps you’ve caught a glimpse of your reflection in a quiet moment, wondering whether it’s alright to allow those unbidden tears to flow.
But hold on a minute! How did we get here, suppressing our emotions like we’re some kind of emotional ninjas? Society, that’s how! We were taught that showing vulnerability is like setting off fireworks indoors – it’s loud, messy, and could potentially cause a lot of damage. So, we adopted the “I’m strong, I’ve got this” persona, even when our emotional rubber bands were stretched to their limit.
Now, let’s be clear – there’s nothing wrong with being strong. But there’s also nothing wrong with being tired, mentally exhausted, and just about ready to declare an emotional state of emergency. In fact, it’s almost liberating to embrace our inner emotional turmoil with a shrug and a “Not Ta-day!”
Tears as the Elixir of Release
TODAY, I gave myself permisson to cry. I am often misunderstood because I hold back and hold in. At times its a scary thought of what might come out if I react to E-VER-REE-THING.
Have you ever noticed the almost magical rejuvenation that follows a good cry? It’s as if the tears carry away fragments of our burdens, making space for fresh perspectives and renewed energy. Those moments of emotional release can be a pathway to healing and growth, allowing us to shed the layers of stress that we’ve carried for too long.
So here’s the dill ‘pickle’, it’s absolutely okay to feel like you’ve been through the emotional wringer. Life has a knack for tossing us into a ring with challenges we didn’t sign up for. But in the midst of all the chaos, remember that embracing your tired moments is not a sign of weakness – it’s a badge of honor. NOTE: Writing is therapeutic for me. This serves as a great reminder to me and one that I want to share to all you glorious readers.
Sure, we might not be able to throw a full-on tantrum in the middle of the grocery store without getting some concerned glances from fellow shoppers, but that doesn’t mean we can’t give ourselves permission to feel. The next time you’re about to let out an exasperated sigh that could rival a hurricane’s gust, go ahead and do it. Let those emotions out into the world, whether it’s with a sigh, a chuckle, or even a full-blown “I’ve had it!” moment in the privacy of your own space.
In the grand tapestry of human existence, the threads of exhaustion and vulnerability are just as vibrant and essential as the ones that scream “I’ve got this!” Embrace the chaos, honor your feelings, and know that even in your most fatigued moments, you’re still a superhero (I like to privately call myself “Girl Wonder,” and no – I do not mind referring to myself as a girl sometimes, and yes – I am a WHOLE lotta woman [in my best Beyonce from Austin Powers voice]) juggling life’s quirks with an unshakeable grin. So, go ahead and unleash your inner emotional tempest – because let’s be honest, it’s a show worth watching!
P.S.
I did not proof this, I just got in front of the computer and let thoughts come. IMO, that is the point of a true blog. *shrugs*
